Fashion Week Trends for Spring/Summer 2020
It’s that time of year again ladies and gentlemen where designers across the globe come out with extravagant looks to showcase to the world. Are they proposing we wear big fur coats paired with fluffy tutus and thigh high boots out in public? Maybe. Does it get people talking out about their designs? Most definitely.
Fashion Week: the time of year all fashion bloggers live for.
Since the start of September, there has been a total of 4 fashion weeks, the latest one being in Paris, France. Let’s take a stroll down the catwalk and talk about the major fashion trends for the upcoming season: Spring/Summer 2020.
We’ve all seen designers take inspiration from previous decades fashion, especially the 90’s. Who wouldn’t want to be seen strolling down Rodeo Drive in a full plaid pant suit looking and feeling like Cher Horowitz? Top designers like Virgine Viard (designer of Chanel) showcased their top plaid looks in every way possible. From a preppy, poised look by Chanel to an old-school, modest vibe by Gucci, there’s something there for all of us, so we too, can rock 90s fashion.
Trend: Slit Skirts
No surprise, slit skirts and dresses were all the rage on the runways. What better time to flaunt tanned, smooth legs than during the warm weather? If you really want to spice up your closet this upcoming spring, head to your nearest mall and pick up one of these beautiful styles to pair with a silk blouse, or cute pair of black, kitten heels (or both)!
The delicacy of lace was portrayed all throughout fashion week making it a definite spring/summer trend. Sarah Burton, designer of Alexander McQueen, included lace in many of the pieces she showcased as well as other designers like Nicholas Ghesquière, designer of Louis Vuitton. Lace is the perfect fabric to wear during the warmer seasons, not only to look chic, but to keep cool and elegant all in one.
The 1970s was the year of disco, and with disco comes glitter and sparkles. The disco finger was one of the snazziest dance moves on the dance floor, and everywhere you turned, someone was wearing either a tie dyed shirt or bell bottoms and most definitely sequins. Oh yes, sequins is in, and I’m here for it. You will definitely catch these looks on the dance floor this summer!
Trend: All Leather Outfit
We all went through a leather phase- maybe you’re still going through one now! Leather makes us feel more powerful, rebellious, and like a character from Grease! Don’t fret if you’re worried about wearing a leather-on-leather outfit because it’ll totally be in-style during the spring and summer season!
Just make sure you don’t wear too much leather when it’s hot out, no one wants a Ross incident!
